Day 20 - Should there be an ordinance citing people who fail to recycle $50?

It should be a requirement for citizens to recycle. If everyone recycles, there would be a less problem with pollution. However, not everyone does it. Less than half the country recycles. What if the government charged anyone who didn't recycle fifty dollars? This would definitely motivated the country in helping mother Earth, cause less problems with pollution, and benefit to the neighborhoods.

Day 19 - Should schools start later in the morning?

Every school starts their morning a bit too early. This lacks the student from doing work in the first few classes of the day. This is probably why they are failing. If a school starts later in the morning, it would be a huge help to the student. Even if that meant they got out later as well, it would still qualify as the same amount of time as any other normal early day. This would help the student in studies, get them more sleep, and they could get some last minute work done in that morning.

Day 18 - Should people have to get a license to become parents?

The United States of America is always known for the freedom. If a couple wants to get married, have kids, and become parents, it is their choice. It's whatever makes them happy. Why should is be required for someone to own a license for parenting? This is a pointless law. It's a waste of money, and it does not require such actions for a simple job.

Day 17 - Should the government censor internet content deemed inappropriate?

The internet has grown with many websites with many different categories. You have sports, entertainment, and some content that is not appropriate. It is easy for anyone to find pornographic images on the internet. It can even pop up out of no where on accident. The government should definitely block any inappropriate content for better surfing, safer environment online, and keep the young children away from such content.

Day 16 - Should high school students have to complete community service hours to graduate?

Graduation shows that a student has worked their best in building their future. They then have the option to join college and make their future even better, or they can get a job. They have succeeded in over thirteen years of education. What if they had to do community service hours just to have a full graduation? It would be pointless, education is hard enough, and can hold them back for no reason.

Day 15 - Is it appropriate for students and teachers to be friends on Facebook?

Lately, social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have been the opened door for bad accidents. For example, there have been over a hundred police reports about teens being harmed by adults stalking them on the internet. It is the easiest way to find out things about a young child that is not needed to be known. Because of this, it is not allowed for teens to add their teachers on Facebook. If they were allowed to, this would not be appropriate whatsoever. It can cause greater problems, lose a teacher's job, and would be a distraction from education.

Day 14 - Should teens over 13 years be allowed into R rated movies?

It seems that the more our generation grows, the more inappropriate content is growing as well. It is a parent's job to keep their children away from it. Likewise, it has become a law for R rated movies in theaters to only allow people eighteen years or older. What would happen if teenagers up to thirteen years old were allowed in R rate movies? This would be a bad influence, a pointless law, and it is very inappropriate.

Day 13 - Should abortions be illegal?

When someone murders another person, losing their life, it is instantly counted as a crime and higher punishment is taken into action. Abortion, if not known already, is literally killing a baby before he or she is even born or known of gender. Killing is murder. Murder is a crime. Abortion should be illegal without a doubt. Because no matter how young, it is still a human being. It is selfish for the mother, and they can at least give the baby up for adoption.

Day 12 - Should schools start later in the morning?

It is a fact that every morning in a school environment, there are those handfuls of teens who have the "I don't want to be here, I just want to sleep" look on their faces. Yet in the afternoon, right when school ends, they act like they're on fifteen cups of coffee. This is because schools start their day way too early. If schools start later, this can have a huge impact. It can give students more sleep, more time in the morning for educational tasks, and give more motivation in a student.

Day 11 - Should teachers be allowed to have cell phones in the classroom?

Once the phone goes off in the classroom environment, or you are caught texting during a lesson, the phone is instantly taken up for disruption. Only for the students, that is. But yet when a teacher's phone goes off, nothing is done about it! The same should go for teachers when it comes to cell phone rules in school. It is a disruption no matter who is the owner of the phone, teachers need to be focused, and they can just use the school phones they have on the desks.

Day 10 - Should female construction workers earn the same wages as males?

Ever since women have been able to vote, there have been more rights for women everywhere in America. Somehow in construction working, women get lower paid than men. Should they be paid the same as men? The working area is the same, so why is it that women have lower payments because of their gender? This should be a new rule, for women have the same exact rights as men. Everyone is working the same, so why not? Finally, this can reduce women strikes.

Day 9 - Should American families have a two child max rule to limit population growth?

America is known for the freedom. Families can live happily with as many children as they want, and live the way they want. In a lot of other countries, this isn't possible. If the government limits families to have only two children, then what is America anymore? This cannot change the fact of the overpopulation. With this ridiculous rule, it can cause more problems in population. And what if a family has triplets? Then what can the government do? Many other problems can occur, too.

Day 8 - Should students who commit cyberbullying be suspended from school?

Bullying is a major issue in schools. Not only that, but ever since the new generation has come in with new technology, it has made bullying grow onto the world wide web. Social networks like Facebook or Myspace, or even Youtube, have been the homes of many bullies climbing their way to the innocent. In schools, when a student physically bullies someone, they are usually suspended. What makes this different from doing it online? If schools suspend a student for bullying online, this can lower the bully rates. It can show to other students that bullying is wrong, and can save many lives.

Day 7 - Should teachers have to pass a basic skills test every ten years to renew their certification?

When someone gets a job for the very first time, they may be very excited and motivated about it. While for others, as the job years grow, they can get tired of it. They could possibly lose their skills from lack of motivation. This ties in with a teaching career. If teachers are given a basic skills test every ten years as a chance to renew their certification, this can be sure that teachers are motivated and not losing skills. It can also open the eyes of teachers, and make the parents/students more comfortable.

Day 6 - Should schools offer fast food options like McDonald’s or Taco Bell?

Child obesity is a major problem in America. Schools have tried very hard in giving healthy options to lower the rates in overweight teens and children. However, many schools have noticed that the food the schools give is somewhat not perfect. Adding things like Taco Bell or Mcdonalds can make this even worse. This can cause many higher rates in overweight children, less motivation in class, and debates from parents.

Day 5 - Should teenage girls be allowed to get birth control without the permission of their parents?

It has always been said that having sex before marriage is wrong and rushing things, no matter what the situation. When two people love each other and get married, and are dedicated in the marriage, that is when they can make that decision. Teens are very open to this, and a lot have made a mistake over having sex before marriage. Which is why it is not allowed for teen girls to have birth control without a parent's permission. Should this be the opposite? This can cause more diseases, more crimes, and it can hurt the teen emotionally.

Day 4 - Should students have to wear uniforms?

For each time a student has progressed to a higher grade level in schools, it seems that they have more and more limits. Education is tough, but important. A lot of people don't understand how stressed a student is until they have had to deal with it. During their studies, they also have to deal with the stress of friendship/relationship drama. Should they be required to wear uniforms to the side of this? This can cause lower confidence, more drama, and even worse crimes or problems in school.

Day 3 - "Should more be done to protect and preserve endangered animals?"

America has done a lot to help our environment; with homeless animals and the hungry. However, there is still a problem with more animals. The number of endangering animals have been increasing due to our environment getting weaker and weaker. Everyone needs to stand up and help out the animals before they slip away from us in less than a second. There are charities that can be made, like collecting money. There can be creative projects made. Also, there can be food donations for feeding.

Day 2 - "Should everyone under the age of 17 have a 9:00 PM curfew?"

A typical teenager most likely loves to stay out at night after bed time. Faintly because of this, there have been many crimes by teenagers doing the most illegal things; drugs, rape, theft, the list goes on. The main reason these certain teenagers do such things mostly during the nighttime is so that their guardians are not known of it until they hear the news from someone else. However, not all teens are doing the bad thing. Some could be going to church lock-ins or prom night. Should people under the age of seventeen really require a curfew? First of all, it should only be for certain people if they've done something. Second, there shouldn't be a law for it for the innocent. And finally, isn't America known for the freedom.

Day One - "Should Student's Be Required to Take Spanish?"

In many high schools, students have multiple options for their language credit. Blackman High School, located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, provides either Spanish, Latin, or French. Students can choose whichever language they prefer from the three. Should they be forced to only take Spanish? They should choose on their own, for students need to learn how to make their own decisions in education. Everyone has a different college major idea planned, so taking a certain language that fits their career choice can be a big help. Also, they need a taste of freedom.
